They provide very decent support for a 3" heel, and have a TERRIFIC grippy sole for wet weather, dirt and uneven pavement [but not sufficient for snow]. The sole is also almost 3/4" thick, which will protect the boot's upper from scuffing against the ground [and usually wearing through at the little toe which can't be repaired].You can wear the shaft up or turned down and it looks great 'down' with skinny jeans or leggings. I think it would be okay [though warm, lined with faux wool in the shaft, no wool at the foot] up under boot cut jeans, but I don't own any, so I can't say for sure.
